Last week, I had the privilege of spending two days at a wonderful primary school, delivering much-needed sleep support for both staff and families. It was an incredible experience that left a lasting impact-not just on the children, but on the entire school community.
Day One: Supporting the Staff
The first day was all about the teachers and school staff. With the school investing in their well-being, each staff member had the opportunity for a private 1:1 sleep consultation, where they could openly discuss their own sleep struggles or concerns about the children in their care. Whether it was managing stress-related sleep issues, understanding how lack of sleep affects behaviour in the classroom, or just learning simple but effective strategies for better rest, every session was met with relief and appreciation.
The buzz in the staff room afterwards was amazing. Teachers felt valued, heard, and genuinely supported by their school leadership. It wasn’t just about sleep-it was about knowing their well-being mattered. That sense of care and investment created a ripple effect; staff left feeling more energised, more motivated, and more equipped to support their pupils.
Day Two: Helping Parents & Children
The second day was dedicated to parents and children, thanks to the generosity of the PTA, who funded 1:1 sleep consultations for families. Parents were grateful for the school’s efforts in recognising the importance of sleep and making expert support accessible to them. Some came in desperate for help with bedtime battles, night waking, or early rising, while others simply wanted reassurance that they were on the right track.
By the end of the day, parents left feeling empowered with clear, practical strategies tailored to their child’s needs. Many said they finally felt hopeful about improving their child’s sleep-something that would, in turn, benefit their whole family.
A Happier, More Rested School
As I packed up, I could feel the difference in the school’s atmosphere. Teachers felt refreshed and supported, parents felt heard and reassured, and the school leadership knew they had made a lasting impact on both their staff and families. Investing in sleep support isn’t just about improving nights-it’s about creating calmer classrooms, happier homes, and a school community that truly thrives.
If your school or nursery is looking to bring the same transformation to your staff and families, I’d love to help. Let’s make better sleep a priority, together.
